Over the past nearly two years, WCHD has been working toward implementing a traffic garden in Washington County. A traffic garden is a painted streetscape that gives children a safe place away from traffic to learn how to safely ride their bikes on the streets. Thanks to a collaboration between WCHD, the Hagerstown YMCA, and the City of Hagerstown, the Bike Safe Play Court has now been completed! This public traffic garden is located at the Hagerstown YMCA. Parents, childcare providers, and other caregivers are encouraged to bring their children (and their bicycles and helmets!) to the Bike Safe Play Court to teach them bicycle safety and the rules of the road.
Join us virtually for the livestreamed grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremony of the Bike Safe Play Court on our Facebook page on Thursday, October 29th at 3:00 p.m..
