Maintain, Don’t Gain: Do you need help staying on track with your weight over the holidays? Take the Maintain, Don’t Gain challenge. Employees who are overweight or a healthy weight can join the challenge. Here’s how the Challenge works:
• Weigh in before the holiday season on November 14th.
• Weigh out six weeks after the holiday season.
• Your goal is to stay within two pounds of your starting weight or less.
Each week during the challenge you’ll receive a newsletter with tips and a weekly challenge to help you practice healthy habits.
At the end of the challenge, everyone who maintained their weight within two pounds or lost weight will be entered in a raffle to win prizes!
Gratitude Challenge: This November, practice gratitude by signing up for the 21-day Gratitude Challenge! Each day you’ll receive an email with a gratitude idea to try for the day. Sign up here.
Fruit of the Month: On the first Wednesday of every month, employees can check the refrigerator (main building 2nd floor lobby, BHS, and WIC kitchens) to find a sample of the Fruit of the Month and try a taste of a fruit you may not have had before.
Lunchtime Stretching and Meditation: Start off your week right by taking a short stretching and/or meditation break during your lunch! Every Monday, come join in at 12:30pm in the 2nd floor auditorium for 5 minutes of stretching and 5 minutes of meditation! Easy standing and chair stretches and guided meditations mean that anyone can participate with no experience required! Employees are welcome to participate in just the stretching or just the meditation portions if they’d prefer. Meditation starts at 12:35pm. Please note that employees may only participate during their lunch break.
Wellness Information: The literature racks on the 3rd floor near Personnel and on the 2nd floor outside Nursing contain health and wellness information for employees to take or borrow. The following books are also available for employees to borrow: Walking 4 Wellness, A Good Night’s Sleep, Stop Stress This Minute.
More WCHD Wellness information and announcements will be available by email, on the WCHD Wellness bulletin boards, and in the WCHD Wellness section of the employee newsletter.
