Health department staff will continue to go out in the communities of Washington County, Fridays from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., throughout August, for mini health fairs in local parks and neighborhoods.
Everything from reproductive health information and body mass index (BMI) checks, to diabetes risk assessments, blood pressure screenings and cancer prevention resources is available. COVID-19 testing and free KN95 masks and rapid, at-home test kits are also on-site.
COVID-19 vaccinations will be offered to ages 12 and older at many of the health fairs. The new Novavax product will be available for ages 18 and older. According to Dr. Diana Gaviria, deputy health officer for the Washington County Health Department, “misinformation which circulated about the previous mRNA vaccine products from Pfizer and Moderna may have scared some people, but perhaps this more commonly known kind of vaccine that Novavax now offers will bring more adults to us to get this incredibly important protection.”
