Meet the new Director of WCHD’s Health Planning and Strategic Initiatives Division: Jared Blakeslee!
Jared began his professional career in the field of community mental health rehabilitation and then transitioned to working in an inpatient setting. While employed at a state behavioral hospital, Jared was introduced to the world of emergency preparedness. He became the facility safety officer and was in that position for about 7 years. He came to the Washington County Health Department in 2019 as the Strategic National Stockpile Coordinator in the Health Planning and Strategic Initiatives division. Upon the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Jared became part of the Washington County Emergency Operations Center and then became the COVID-19 testing lead, providing testing options to numerous underserved populations throughout the county.
